Hi Everyone

Welcome to the Yorkshire Paediatric Critical Care elearning environment.

This website contains information on training and education as well as Network news and updates.

New (2009) Version of the Operational Policies and Guidelines are now available on this site (see links to left)

About the Network

The Paediatric Critical Care Network was established in February 2005 to support the development of services for critically ill children and their families.

Work Programme

The priorities of work for 2007 focused on the dissemination of results from the 3-year research study into High Dependency Care and the option appraisal of a Transport Service for Neonatal and Paediatric Critical Care Transport across the Yorkshire and Humber area. Work continues across several Paediatric Networks to establish guidelines for a number of childhood diseases to ensure a regional approach to guideline development and share good practice.

Training and Education

The Network has a well established training programme for nurses, ODPs, AHP staff and junior doctors delivered by our Network Educator, who works in an outreach capacity to deliver training locally. We also support the facilitation of advanced life support training locally by setting up and providing the resources for one-day Paediatric Life Support courses and PARAS course.

Research

The Network recently commissioned a research study to validate an early warning score for paediatric services which aims to develop a validated scoring tool for early recognition of critically ill children.
